for those of you that have the Sunbonnet Sue in Alaska paper patterns without the kits:
-
you can place ordinary lightweight freezer paper over the paper pattern and see through the freezer paper well enough to trace the pattern onto it
-
this allows you to cut out the freezer paper patterns and iron them (DO NOT use steam!) onto your fabrics
-
then you can cut the pattern peices from the fabric (always allow for seam allowance!)
-
and work the embroidery stitches over the top of the freezer paper that is STILL ironed to the fabric (tear away the paper when the piece is completly sewn onto the main block fabric as the outlines of the freezer paper patterns is the sewing lines you will use to attach the pieces to the main block)
-
without destroying your original pattern or wondering where your traced pattern marks are as they get rubbed away!
